The Sydney Roosters release Brad Takairangi to the Gold Coast Titans

So the Roosters released Taka to the Titans, effective immediately. I guess with Sonny Bill his skill set is redundant at least this year…but I hope this was not done, as feared, with Luke O’Donnell in mind. He’s a very talented youngster with a skill set that could have been useful post-SBW — he has a nifty little kicking game and a great offload, he just needed to get a little stronger physically.

And if he has been released to potentially sign a one-year rental in LO’D then i’ll be mad pissed.

Here’s the Roosters’ statement:

Sydney Roosters release Brad Takairangi

The Sydney Roosters have today announced that Brad Takairangi has been granted an early release from his contract to join the Gold Coast Titans on a three-year deal.

Sydney Roosters COO Football, Brian Canavan, said: “Brad possesses some great talent however with the Titans offering him a longer-term contract, we didn’t want to stand in his way.

“We thank Brad for his contribution to our club and wish him and his young family all the very best for the future.”

Takairangi will join the Titans effective immediately.

Good signing for the Titans. Goodbye youth policy?
