So it looks like the Luke O’Donnell era is almost upon us. The Daily Telegraph reported this morning that he “was relieved from taking part in Huddersfield’s UK Super League clash against London”.

Still no word on who they’re going to release to make way for him, but rumours are its Anthony Cherrington. If it is, hopefully he can land on his feet and get a start at a club where he can get some game time. He’s got a shitload of talent but has just had an awful run with injuries.

Hopefully all Roosters fans wish him all the best — i’m personally sad to see him go if he is indeed the one because i think he has all the tools and has overcome a lot on the injury front to even get into the position that another club would want him.

Here’s the snippet from the Telegraph:

ODonnell, 32, was relieved from taking part in Huddersfields UK Super League clash against London. His omission was taken as a certain indication that a release to re-join the NRL is imminent. The Roosters are on the verge of more good signing news, with half Mitchell Pearce understood to be close to agreeing to a contract extension.Huddersfield initially wanted Pearces understudy Daniel Mortimer in exchange for ODonnell but Roosters officials declined.ODonnells agent Wayne Beavis said the former NSW Origin and Test enforcer would not board a plane home until Huddersfield supplied him with an official release. “We thought something might have been finalised overnight, after Luke didnt play yesterday,” Beavis said last night.”I cant see him flying home for at least a couple of days, so its unlikely hell be available for the Roosters this week.”
