Kane Evans out for the season with ligament tear

Sad news has been handed down to Kane Evans-ites, with the NSWRL tweeting the following:

Evans was originally diagnosed with an ankle injury which would rule him out for just two to three weeks, but further scans revealed the following as tweeted by Adam Hogan (@Addzy18):

It’s a cruel blow for the huge front rower, rated as one of the top five young props in the game by legendary prop Petero Civoniceva. He had been named on the bench for the Roosters on at least two occasions this year before dropping off at the last minute.

It was also rumoured he was set to make his debut last week with Sonny Bill Williams struggling with a glute injury, but second-tier salary cap complications meant that SBW had to play.

This meant Evans lined up for the Jets over the weekend, when the injury occurred.

The kid has a future as massive as his near six-foot-seven frame. With the Roosters team at full strength this season there would not have been much chance for Evans to get a run in first grade unless injuries struck hard, but he should see some action next season should he fully recover from the surgery with most experts predicting rep honours down the line.
