Sonny Bill to miss next two matches after taking early guilty plea

Sydney Roosters second-rower Sonny Bill Williams will accept a two-match ban after taking the early guilty plea following a high shot on Willie Mason in the club’s 28-12 win over the Knights on Sunday.

Williams was charged with a Grade 3 Careless High Tackle and faced as many as three weeks on the sidelines had the club elected to fight the charge and lose.

Williams will now miss the club’s upcoming matches against the Penrith Panthers on Friday night and against the Canberra Raiders at home the following Saturday. He”ll be back for the Roosters in Round 23 to take on the Wests Tigers.

Mitchell Aubusson will be expected to start in SBW’s spot in the back row, with Dylan Napa in the running to nab the 18th man spot.

It was initially hoped that the Roosters would fight the charge, with SBW jokingly engaging his nemesis on Twitter to help out at the judiciary. But the club has elected not to risk losing their superstar drawcard for another match.
