One more year! One more year!
The Roosters have made it official: Sonny Bill Williams has pledged his commitment to the Roosters for another season. Following a tweet from the All Blacks that said the star second-rower was not heading back to rugby next year, The Roosters released the following statement:
On the eve of his departure for the Rugby League World Cup, the Sydney Roosters are pleased to announce that Sonny Bill Williams has pledged his commitment to the Roosters for season 2014.
The Club anticipates that Williams will officially sign in mid-February 2014 for the remainder of the season on the same terms and conditions as his 2013 contract.
In the meantime, the Roosters extend their best wishes for a successful campaign to Williams and the other Sydney Roosters players representing their country at the upcoming World Cup and will be making no further comment.
I think I speak on behalf of all Roosters fans when I say: “hell yeah!!”
Fresh off their 13th premiership, the Roosters now must surely start the 2014 season as favourites to win back-to-back titles in an effort to become the first team since the Brisbane Broncos in 1992-1993 (or 1997-98 if you count Super League) to do so.
Now we can all relax. And welcome back, Sonny Bill: we missed you man!
