Sydney Roosters and Peugeot announce sponsorship deal; carmaker set to score mad exposure in 2014

This Sydney Roosters announced this morning that they’ve teamed up with carmaker Peugeot as their official upper chest and top back of jersey sponsor for the next three seasons.

However, a keen eye could have discovered the news for themselves last week. Twitter’s favourite Buzz hound,  Rick (@eastsfan), tweeted the following image yesterday and twice last week, with the Peugeot name firmly planted across the chest of the Roosters’ Auckland Nines Jersey:

It’s a coup for the club and makes the 2014-16 jerseys one of the most lucrative in the NRL — although financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in the Roosters’ official statement.

The announcement is also a coup for Peugeot, which comes on an the height of the Roosters’ media exposure thanks to its premiership win, the presence of Sonny Bill Williams, his farewell tour and perhaps the farewell tour of legend Anthony Minichiello.

The Peugeot name will appear on the Auckland Nines Roosters jersey — which may be worn by club legend Brad Fittler, who will have all eyes on him should he suit up — and will also get international exposure during the World Club Challenge.

If the carmaker wanted some sick exposure, they’re about to get it.
