Shaun Kenny-Dowall has been cleared of all domestic violence charges against former partner Jessica Peris, according to Lucy Marks at the ABC.
There will be more to come of course, such as a statement from SKD and his legal team, and possibly the club. This will be welcome news to Roosters fans who have been sweating this verdict since last year.
But more importantly, it’s welcome news to SKD and his family, the former of whom reportedly wept when the verdict was read on Monday.
Since being charged, Kenny-Dowall missed several games when he was hospitalised and under monitoring for is own well-being. And infamously, NSW premier Mike Baird stepped in to deliver an unsolicited comment calling for the centre/wing to be stood down, a statement coach Trent Robinson called “disappointing”.
SKD has since played a role in the club’s finals charge last year and scored a try in the recent World Challenge Series versus St Helens.
He should be free for selection tomorrow night ahead of the season kick-off against the Rabbitohs on Sunday.
