Boyd Cordner, arguably the Roosters’ most inform player since his return from a pectoral injury that kept him sidelined for seven games to start the year, is now out for at least a month with a foot injury according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
The second rower, coming off an 80-minute performance in Origin in which he scored the game’s first try and ran it 15 times for 138 metres, faces between four and six weeks on the sidelines, effectively ruling him out for the rest of the Origin series.
It’s a cruel blow for the struggling Roosters who only just welcomed him back and saw him average 124 metres a game off 16 runs with three tackle busts an outing through four games. The Roosters are also without Shaun Kenny-Dowall who is still struggling with a turf toe complaint.
It’s unclear who’ll replace Cordner on the left edge, though it seems the likeliest choice against the Tigers to shift Siosiua Taukeiaho to that edge and promote Isaac Liu to lock.
